At SOMA, we believe in handmade, artisanal goodness, and that's why we love popping up at places like Pacific City in Huntington Beach, Prado West in Dana Point, local farmers markets, and other awesome seasonal events. It's all about bringing together creators, artists, and small businesses to show off their fantastic products!

Our events are weekend shindigs that usually kick off around 11 am and wrap up by 6 pm. Your mission, should you choose to accept it: set up your booth, welcome folks with a smile, and help them discover their perfect candle scent. Think of yourself as an expert candle sommelier, guiding them through their fragrant scent journey! 🕯️

Qualifications:

We're all about good vibes and friendly faces, so here's what we're looking for:

  • Must be as friendly with an out-going personality that shines! You love answering questions, being a helpful soul, and mingling with our awesome and diverse customer base throughout the day.
  • Got 1-2 years of experience in retail sales, hospitality, or events? That's a plus!
  • Strong communication skills? Check. Time management and multitasking skills? Double-check.
  • Weekends are our jam, and every once in a while, we might throw in a weeknight. You cool with that?
  • You've got your trusty vehicle and a valid CA driver's license – ready to hit the open road!
  • Can you lift up to 50 lbs. safely? We don't expect you to bench press candles, but a little muscle comes in handy.
  • Standing for long periods? Bring comfy shoes and sunscreen – our events can be sunny, hot, windy, cool, and full of fresh air!
  • Quick learner? You're in the right place. Prioritizing tasks and asking questions when needed is your thing.
  • Self-starter? You'll have some freedom to shine and work your magic with minimal supervision.
  • Tech-savvy? Great! Especially when it comes to using a POS system.
  • Punctual and reliable? We like you already. Solid professional references? Even better.

Tasks:

  • Get the party started by picking up products and supplies needed for our pop-ups before each event. Don't worry, we've got your back with everything you need!
  • Be the early bird that catches the worm – arrive on time (sometimes early weekend mornings).
  • Follow the playbook for each location, because we like to mix it up!
  • Set up shop right on schedule, creating a booth that's safe, clean, and oh-so-inviting.
  • Be the friendly face that greets and assists every customer. Our goal: a friendly, welcoming, and engaging experience for all.
  • Practice your best royal wave to invite folks passing by to check out our fabulous candles.
  • Become the candle connoisseur! Share recommendations and highlight our unique offerings.
  • Check customers out using the POS system, handle payments, and make their day by packing up their goodies with care.
  • Keep that booth and table looking fresh and organized – it's like a mini work of art!
  • At the end of the day, break down the booth and pack up the products. Tidy up like a pro.
  • Give us the scoop with event updates and end-of-day reports – we like to stay in the loop.
  • Your feedback matters – tell us how we can make the customer experience even better.

Compensation, Benefits + Perks:

  • Competitive Hourly Rate Range: $15.50-$17.00 per hour.
